OOTD & The Avengers

Yesterday I went to see The Avengers with Tenna and a bunch of other people. The movie wasn't until after six, so Tenna and I hung out bit at my place first. She gave me this lovely set of handmade earrings which are just about as fabulous as anything can really be. See for yourselves:

I love them and I can't wait to wear them :D

So The Avengers was awesome. It was such a good movie. I've been feeling like I want to watch it again all day long. It was so just funny and action packed, not mention all the eyecandy. All right, well, just in case you live under a rock and have no idea what movie I'm talking about, I'll leave the trailer below.

This is what I wore yesterday. Finally got a chance to break in my new JCs that arrived last week. Felt goooood, haha. Although, not so good when I decided to walk home from the cinema and halfway home my feet were dying. It's a 30-40min walk. But it was just such a nice evening, it's been getting warmer lately and it was twilight and there was a slight breeze, I couldn't resist. I'm still paying the prize ;)

Museum of Zoology & a couple of outfits

A couple of weeks ago I had the past two weeks off from work, which has been great. I haven't had a vacation for a really long time, so it was really nice to gear down. I didn't travel anywhere or work on any major creative projects. It's basically just been a fairly low-key vacation. I will, however, take you through some of the highlights.

My friend Amy and I went to the Museum of Zoology which I haven't been to since I was a child and I've been wanting to go back now for the past couple of years, but haven't really gotten around to it before now. I just remember that I loved going there when I was a child, so I was really looking forward to going again.

Amy

This one freaks me out a bit, but I figured some might like it.

I thought this owl was a hoot ;)

I became a little too attached this polar bear. Mighty Boosh fans will understand why probably ;)

All right, so it was fun to go there again, but it was so much smaller than I remembered. Super small, actually. But I still liked being there again. I love museums with all the corridors and corners, they feel so much like a labyrinth.

Another thing I did in these past couple of weeks was to sew this dress:

I've had this fabric lying about for so long and had even half-started making something, but I finally sat down and actually made something wearable with it.
The colour isn't coming out right in the photo. It's a lot more blue in real life; A really gorgeous colour, and I had so been looking forward to wearing this colour, but I don't know... I made the dress a bit on the large size, well, not intentionally, obviously, but I was using a new pattern for the bodice, which apparently is a bit bigger than my old one.
Honestly, there's a reason I put the belt on in the picture. I used 4 meters of chiffon fabric for the skirt and it's just too much, so it's all sausage-y around the waist and then it's too big in the back and ugh, I was really disappointed with the outcome. Mostly, because in my mind I had this image of a nice, light and breezy Spring dress, but when I put this one on, I just feel like a big cupcake, like I'm on my way to a six year olds birthday party.

It probably has more to do with how I feel in Lolita in general these days, than the actual dress. It's just something with all those layers that's putting me off at the moment. Hmm.

Random outfit picture from my holiday.

And another one from Easter.
Everything is H&M except shoes and jewelry.

That's all for now :)

Cats, meetups, photos and horror movies

Last weekend I visited Tenna at her parents' house. They have a dog and six cats. Their newest member is this cute little kitten that Tenna's mom rescued recently. She was so cute :3 It was a lovely day spent mostly inside mostly watching Supernatural and Mighty Boosh, hehe :D

The latest issue of Starlight Magazine was also revealed this week.

Besides a couple of mini features, I did two "minor" shoots. The Harry Potter selfportraits and the Hunter Loli shoot. Have look:

Yesterday I went to a meetup to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Danish Frills, which is a Danish forum focusing solely on Lolita fashion. We went to A.C. Perchs Tearoom which was a lovely place with a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was so luxurious.

I drank white temple tea, ate small sandwiches and scones with lemon curd and everything was absolutely delicious.

Tenna and I had decided to be really fancy, so we both had big hair XD I tried doing this Marie Antoinette inspired hair do as shown in this video. But next time I think it needs to be a bit bigger ^^

I made this hairpiece from a decorative garland I had lying around.
After the meetup, five of us went to the cinema to watch The Woman in Black. We had plenty of time before the movie started, so we took some outfit shots and then went a had something to warm to drink in the café at the cinema.

Dress: Aatp
Blouse: Dear Celine
Cardigan: Louise
Tights (two pairs layered): H&M
Shoes: Bodyline

The shoe choice was sort of a last minute thing, and next time I'm wearing this outfit, I would prefer to wear something more elegant ^^

The movie was really good. I'm not one for horror movies, but since it's Daniel Radcliffe starring, I had to see it. I think he did really well. It was really scary, though, I found myself burying my face in my fox stole aka. George so many times and continuously bursting out "Dude!" and muttering to myself "nonononono", lol XD
But then again, I'm really not one for horror movies. ;)

So yeah, check out the trailer if you haven't already :D

Afterwards, Tenna and I went back to my place and watched Mighty Boosh, really tired and worn out from being out in the cold.

And to finish this entry, I'd like to show you two of my recent purchases:

Fresh out of the box ;)
These shoes from Vivienne Westwood. Gosh, I've been sighing over these for so long now, so when I found them in this colour and my size, I had to go for it. They are so freaking comfortable and they smell like bubblegum, haha :D
I love them so much, I wish I could get a pair too in gold, lol ;)

The other thing is this dress from Metamorphose:

I remember seeing this print back when I was starting out in Lolita and I just loved the cats on it! Ever since I've been keeping my eye out for the right colour and version. I found this on mbok for just about 4000JPY. I think it's really cute and it has a really nice length, although not as much width in the skirt as I would have liked, but oh well :)

The new Starlight issue is out

Since my last update, I've been super busy finishing things for my two shoots for Starlight Magazine. The latest issue was just released on the 14h and here is an excerpt of the shoot I did:

Doll shoot with Lone and Tenna
We did this shoot up in the attic in my building. It was really tricky to get a decent lighting,
but you can read more about this shoot here.
A ballerina and a soldier doll
Death and the Maiden shoot with Ariellah and Stine.

Ariellah as the Little Match Girl/Maiden
Stine as Death

I was busy sewing for these two shoots. I made the soldier girl's skirt, the cape and maiden dress.

I couldn't find a suitable blouse, so I improvised by adding sleeves to the jumperskirt.
Death's cape - a big pain in the butt to sew. Just saying.
And my Scent of Rapunzel arrived a while back:

I hope you'll all have a nice christmas tomorrow :D

So I bought some stuff and went to a concert :3

Photo: Jacob Dinesen
So I had last week off from work and had a bunch of plans of things I wanted to get done. But of course I had to come down with the flu halfway through the week. Just great. So I didn't get to finish all of my sewing projects which is now stressing me out. A lot. So yeah.
But I did go to a concert before I got ill. I saw Within Temptation for the second time. They were just as amazing as last time I saw them in 2007. They just have so much energy, passion and gratitude. It's beautiful to watch. Sharon pretty much glows on stage. *__*

Triggerfinger was the support act and they rocked too. My friend and I met two of the guys afterwards and got their autographs. Yay :D So it was a super awesome evening altogether and it's been so long since I've been to a decent rock concert, haha. I really missed it. You know those times when the drums and the bass are so loud it feels as if your heartbeat has been replaced by them. That is probably what I love most about concerts =D

Here's a taste:

And on a more lolita related note: These are some of the things that I'm waiting to receive in the mail soon:
A faux fur coat. I'm just so in love with the whole bambi thing. I hope it'll fit me..otherwise I guess I can just use it for photoshoots.

And then:

Scent of Rapunzel JSK and matching headbow.
This print! :O I think it's one of AatP's best. I think the colours are so beautiful and not just in this colourway, but also the other ones in which this print was released. I can't wait for it to arrive. =D

And I'll say goodbye for now with one of my favourite songs from Within Temptation at the moment:

Finally in the frills again

Jsk: Baby the Stars Shine Bright
Blouse: Vila
Shoes: Deichmann
Collar: Kidsyoyo
Hair-thing: Rococo's Soul
Today Tenna and I met up to do a little location scouting for two shoots we're doing for the next issue of Starlight. We pretty much walked all over Copenhagen, so my feet are more than a bit sore now. I don't want to reveal too much about what we're planning, but I'm very excited about both shoots. They're for the December issue of Starlight and they're based on two classic Christmas fairy tales.

Speaking of Starlight Magazine, the 5th issue came out a couple of weeks ago. Read it here.
My photographic contributions can also be viewed at my photo blog: Flights of Fancy. I also have a FB fanpage now, if anyone should be interested in that ;)

It's been so long since I've updated this blog, I know. It's also been a really long time, since I wore my frills more than just a casual work outfit. So when I had the opportunity today, I took forever picking out my outfit and basically just hugging all of my dresses. ;)

I originally planned to wear my Red Rid(d)ing Hood jsk from Baby, but I have to be honest with myself, if fits me terribly, so I took it off again. It makes me so sad, because I absolutely love that dress. It's so gorgeous and it pains me that I don't wear it much. I think I need to consider selling it, even though I hate the thought. I've decided to sell my Atelier Pierrot skirt that I bought at the Lolitaloppis in May. It doesn't fit either and I don't dare to try to alter it. So that one's definitely up for grabs.

I have this upcoming week off from work. Yay. I needed a break so badly, especially before all the Christmas madness starts for real. I'm probably going to spend most of my vacation sewing. Yup. I have to sew so much for the Christmas shoots. A skirt, a dress, a cape and then I have to make some wings. It's going to be busy, that's for sure ^^

Oh yeah, I wrote guide to Casual Lolita for the latest issue of Starlight. I'd be happy to translate it, if anyone are interested. Then I'll post it here on the blog.

Starlight Magazine #4

A couple of weeks ago the issue #4 of Starlight Magazine came out. I did two photoshoots for this issue and you can view all the images, even the ones I didn't choose for the magazine, on my photoblog: Flights of Fancy.

I also contributed by doing a bunch of articles and while it took forever to get it all done, I really enjoyed it. It was fun setting everything up and making patterns and such.
Check it out here:

No this blog is not dead :3

Since my last update, many things have happened, which I guess is kind of a given, as it's been forever since my last update. Anyway, in May I journeyed to Cardiff to visit a friend of mine. We did several photoshoots there, some of which are featured in the June edition of Starlight Magazine.

There are more photos from the castle shoot to see at my photo blog. I'm kind of slow-mo with the editing, so the two other shoots aren't up yet, but will be soon. Hopefully.
I'm also very excited to say that I will have two photoshoots featured in the next issue. One of them is a huge photo series with four models. I spent so much time on preparing for that shoot, it's ridiculous. I had to sew most of the outfits, but I'm very pleased with the outcome, so I can't wait to show you the photos. The next issue of Starlight will be released on Monday the 8th and we've taken quite a bit step forward this time in terms of layout and content, if I may say so myself, hehe. :3

For the premiere of the last Harry Potter movie, Tenna and I spent the weekend before sewing dresses. I made this deep red velvet dress with a black chiffon bustle, and Tenna made a green velveteen dress. Brilliant as she is, Tenna then painted our respective house crests onto the dresses. Mine in gold paint and hers in silver. It looks awesome, just saying.

How we looked for the premiere. I have to say that I am so happy with the work we put into these dresses. It felt really amazing to honour the end of an era like this. I'm a huge HP fan, so it meant a lot to me. And yes, I needed a bucket for my creys.

We barely got to set foot in the cinema, when a tv reporter came up to us and asked for an interview. We nervously agreed. It was quite a long interview and he asked lots of questions. Lol, he opened with "Aren't you too old to be watching Harry Potter". Unfortunately, I can't show you the final clip. I haven't even seen it myself. Both Tenna and I have tried writing the tv station, but they were no help at all, which is a shame. I really wanted to see it :(

Then on the 20th of July Tenna and I went to a meetup with the Danish forum for Japanese Fashion. This was my first meetup actually, but I already knew a couple of people there, so it wasn't as daunting as one could've thought. We just had a nice picnic in the park and the we played charades.

My outfit
Skirt: Handmade
Top: Surface Spell
Shoes: Bodyline

Group shot, though not of the entire group, just the lolis

We spent the rest of the evening chilling and then the next day, after a quick trip downtown, Tenna and I started sewing. I started making a black chiffon dress. I've been needing just a basic black dress for so long. I finished it late in the evening after Tenna went home.
Sorry for the half-assed pics, I was so lazy that day, lol.
All right, that's it for now. I do have a few new purchases to show you, but that'll be some other time.
