Sephora, Outfit & Books

Today I popped by the new Sephora downtown. It's the first in Denmark and it just opened yesterday. The grand opening is on the 15th. It was really cool, just an abundance of makeup, haha. I didn't actually buy anything, because it was so busy in there, I didn't really want to stay for too long. But I did see something that I really want now. The Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay.
This palette is so hyped it's almost ridiculous. But after seeing it in real life, I really want it. The colours look so amazing and it has several colours that I've been trying to find, without luck, lately. This one is definitely on my current wishlist, but I don't know if I want to spend 370DKK just now on makeup. Maybe next month or maybe I'll put it on my birthday wishlist, even though it's not until August. It is lovely, though.

Today's outfit -

Jacket/H&M - Top/Only - Belt/H&M - Headband&Jewelry/ Topshop - Black ring/Gina Tricot

I didn't get a good full body shot, but I just wore my gold leggings from Topshop with a black bodycon skirt. In case you were wondering.

I think I'm getting into another phase of reading books again. I love books, but I don't always read as much as I'd like. It comes in waves in a way. I won't read anything for months and then suddenly, I'll chaw down a big pile of books in no time.

I read Smertensbarn by Mette Finderup last night. This book doesn't actually come out before tomorrow, but I snagged the reading copy at work and gulfed it down last night. I don't usually read Danish books, but this one caught my eye and was really a page turner. It was really good, actually, I'm eagerly waiting for a sequel now.
I think I'm going to start Spellbound (Hex Hall 3) by Rachel Hawkins tonight, I really liked the first two books, so it'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Have you read any good books lately?

Earrings by Tenna.
Rings - Regal Rose

Even though I have a cold, I pulled myself out of bed to go and watch Avengers again last night, this time with Tenna, Louise and Mia. I opted for something comfortable with warm tights and a jumper. This movie is ridiculously amazing, okay! It's the best movie I've seen in a long time.

Tenna stayed over and today we went downtown, after watching four episodes of Supernatural, to do a bit of shopping. Although, not too much, because we don't want to spend too much this month, heh. I only bought two movies (Thor and The Tourist). But we had a nice lunch and a warm chocolate, then we shot our outfits and went our seperate ways.

You know, I've been thinking about dip dyeing my hair a lighter colour. I don't know, maybe I should wait until it's gotten a bit longer, so it'll look better. I just want to change it up a bit, hmm.

OOTD & The Avengers

Yesterday I went to see The Avengers with Tenna and a bunch of other people. The movie wasn't until after six, so Tenna and I hung out bit at my place first. She gave me this lovely set of handmade earrings which are just about as fabulous as anything can really be. See for yourselves:

I love them and I can't wait to wear them :D

So The Avengers was awesome. It was such a good movie. I've been feeling like I want to watch it again all day long. It was so just funny and action packed, not mention all the eyecandy. All right, well, just in case you live under a rock and have no idea what movie I'm talking about, I'll leave the trailer below.

This is what I wore yesterday. Finally got a chance to break in my new JCs that arrived last week. Felt goooood, haha. Although, not so good when I decided to walk home from the cinema and halfway home my feet were dying. It's a 30-40min walk. But it was just such a nice evening, it's been getting warmer lately and it was twilight and there was a slight breeze, I couldn't resist. I'm still paying the prize ;)

Museum of Zoology & a couple of outfits

A couple of weeks ago I had the past two weeks off from work, which has been great. I haven't had a vacation for a really long time, so it was really nice to gear down. I didn't travel anywhere or work on any major creative projects. It's basically just been a fairly low-key vacation. I will, however, take you through some of the highlights.

My friend Amy and I went to the Museum of Zoology which I haven't been to since I was a child and I've been wanting to go back now for the past couple of years, but haven't really gotten around to it before now. I just remember that I loved going there when I was a child, so I was really looking forward to going again.

Amy

This one freaks me out a bit, but I figured some might like it.

I thought this owl was a hoot ;)

I became a little too attached this polar bear. Mighty Boosh fans will understand why probably ;)

All right, so it was fun to go there again, but it was so much smaller than I remembered. Super small, actually. But I still liked being there again. I love museums with all the corridors and corners, they feel so much like a labyrinth.

Another thing I did in these past couple of weeks was to sew this dress:

I've had this fabric lying about for so long and had even half-started making something, but I finally sat down and actually made something wearable with it.
The colour isn't coming out right in the photo. It's a lot more blue in real life; A really gorgeous colour, and I had so been looking forward to wearing this colour, but I don't know... I made the dress a bit on the large size, well, not intentionally, obviously, but I was using a new pattern for the bodice, which apparently is a bit bigger than my old one.
Honestly, there's a reason I put the belt on in the picture. I used 4 meters of chiffon fabric for the skirt and it's just too much, so it's all sausage-y around the waist and then it's too big in the back and ugh, I was really disappointed with the outcome. Mostly, because in my mind I had this image of a nice, light and breezy Spring dress, but when I put this one on, I just feel like a big cupcake, like I'm on my way to a six year olds birthday party.

It probably has more to do with how I feel in Lolita in general these days, than the actual dress. It's just something with all those layers that's putting me off at the moment. Hmm.

Random outfit picture from my holiday.

That's all for now :)

Regal Rose Rings

I recently stumbled across Regal Rose's site and fell absolutely in love with most of their pieces. They have so much awesome stuff, I had a hard time settling on what to get. Although I was definitley sure that I would get the Mento Green Crystal Ring. I wanted several more pieces, but I didn't want to go too overboard, so I stuck with these two rings shown in the photo.

I placed the order on the 6th, it was despatched on the 10th and I received it on the 13th. They ship from the UK and I'm located in Denmark. I absolutely love both of these rings and will be wearing them often. I can't even get over how beautiful the Mento Green Crystal Ring is. And I've been wanting a bird skull item for a really long time, so I'm really happy I got this one: Merla Silver Raven Skull Ring.

Oh, I'm just wearing the universe on my legs..

Okay, I'll be honest with you. I want these shoes and I want them badly. I went downtown today to pick up some fabric and I "just happened to pass by" one of the shops that stock Jeffrey Campbell shoes. They had them, of course they did, but not in my size. I tried them on in a size 40 instead and they almost fit. They actually felt like they were the right size, but the voice in my head adviced me not to get them, because they would probably be a bit snug when wearing them for a long time. But man, were they fabulous!

So I walked on and further down the street, I saw another shop stocking them. I went in and asked for my size. They didn't have it. But the girl in there was all "Are you sure you need a bigger size? They do run quite large".
She totally got in my head! I started questioning my own reasoning! So I popped by my local mall, because there is also a shop there that stocks the shoes. Apparently, they're everywhere around here. But alas, not in my size, though, this time I tried them on again and I'm happy I did, because this pair was so snug and uncomfortable, it took away all of my doubts.

So now I'm left staring, longingly, at my browser showing the preorder on revolveclothing.com. I want them. I want to wear them with leggings, with skirts, with all my lolita clothes and so on. They are also a bit cheaper online than in the shops around here. Of course, I run the risk of having to pay a customs fee, but I don't know, maybe they're worth it. Hmm...

I guess for now I'll hold my horses. I have this pair on the way in the mail at the moment. I got these on boohoo.com for £35, because I felt certain I wouldn't want the real deal at that price. They'll have to do for now. Then maybe later on, I'll get the spiked ones.

Moving on now, a nice little black parcel came yesterday.

Inside were my beautiful purple galaxy leggings and a note.

Yes, these were on my wishlist for March, and yes, they are a bit pricey, but when I found myself almost buying a pair of white jeans with hologram paint for the same price, I decided to get these instead and I'm so happy I did. I wore them today and I never want to wear anything else again, haha. They are so beautiful and comfortable. If you've been contemplating getting a pair of leggings from Black Milk, I'd say go ahead and order them now, you won't regret it.

New formula?

Sometimes I get a little bored looking at Lolita outfits that all have the same formula. It's always the same kind of shoes with the same kind of socks, the same kind of jewelry with the same kind of hair accessories and so on.
I feel the same way when I'm putting my own stuff together. I have so many of the same kind of necklaces for example. You all know it: The kind Accessorize sells; the ones that look like they were made to go with Lolita clothes. They're pretty, but sometimes I just a bit tired of all my outfits having the same kind of vibe.

So I spent some time putting together these outfits, taking two dress from Baby the Stars Shine Bright and pairing them with stuff mostly from highstreet shops for what is hopefully a slightly more mature look and fresh feel.

Black & White
Dress/Baby the Stars Shine Bright - Bolero/House of Fraser - Shoes/Sam Edelman (Asos) - Headpiece/Tequila Star - Socks/Miss Selfridge - Jewelry/Topshop

Pink & Red
Dress/Baby the Stars Shine Bright - Tights/Debenhams - Shoes/Boohoo - Jewelry/Topshop - Hairband/New Look - Blouse/John Lewis
What do you think?

I would love to wear both of these outfits. Though, the black and white one is my favourite, I really love those pink shoes too, haha :D

Currently loving..

Jewelry/Miss Selfridge - Shoes/Jeffrey Campbell - Jeans/Topshop - Jumpers/Gina Tricot

Yeah, I know I post Topshop stuff all the time, it's like "Sabrina! Get off the goddamn Topshop website!" but I just really like a lot of their stuff lately. I never used to before, I just thought it was all weird overpriced stuff. Now I think it's awesome looking overpriced stuff, haha. And yes, I'm totally loving the Campbell shoes these days.

I think I may have to go and get that unicorn jumper. It's just perfect. I'm acutally really loving Gina Tricot's Spring collection. They have so many pastels and cool 80s style stuff. I bought this awesome 80s tee with a galaxy print! Awesome!

But yeah, these items together do have sort of a pastel goth feel to them. I quite like that style actually. It's kind of the perfect combination of cute and creepy things. I've been thinking of doing a Lolita outfit in the style aswell with my purple deer skirt. Maybe.

Also check out these two occult kittens from glitterhell.com

They're kind of cute, no? :3

Cats, meetups, photos and horror movies

Last weekend I visited Tenna at her parents' house. They have a dog and six cats. Their newest member is this cute little kitten that Tenna's mom rescued recently. She was so cute :3 It was a lovely day spent mostly inside mostly watching Supernatural and Mighty Boosh, hehe :D

The latest issue of Starlight Magazine was also revealed this week.

Besides a couple of mini features, I did two "minor" shoots. The Harry Potter selfportraits and the Hunter Loli shoot. Have look:

Yesterday I went to a meetup to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Danish Frills, which is a Danish forum focusing solely on Lolita fashion. We went to A.C. Perchs Tearoom which was a lovely place with a wonderful atmosphere. Everything was so luxurious.

I drank white temple tea, ate small sandwiches and scones with lemon curd and everything was absolutely delicious.

Tenna and I had decided to be really fancy, so we both had big hair XD I tried doing this Marie Antoinette inspired hair do as shown in this video. But next time I think it needs to be a bit bigger ^^

I made this hairpiece from a decorative garland I had lying around.
After the meetup, five of us went to the cinema to watch The Woman in Black. We had plenty of time before the movie started, so we took some outfit shots and then went a had something to warm to drink in the café at the cinema.

Dress: Aatp
Blouse: Dear Celine
Cardigan: Louise
Tights (two pairs layered): H&M
Shoes: Bodyline

The shoe choice was sort of a last minute thing, and next time I'm wearing this outfit, I would prefer to wear something more elegant ^^

The movie was really good. I'm not one for horror movies, but since it's Daniel Radcliffe starring, I had to see it. I think he did really well. It was really scary, though, I found myself burying my face in my fox stole aka. George so many times and continuously bursting out "Dude!" and muttering to myself "nonononono", lol XD
But then again, I'm really not one for horror movies. ;)

So yeah, check out the trailer if you haven't already :D

Afterwards, Tenna and I went back to my place and watched Mighty Boosh, really tired and worn out from being out in the cold.

And to finish this entry, I'd like to show you two of my recent purchases:

Fresh out of the box ;)
These shoes from Vivienne Westwood. Gosh, I've been sighing over these for so long now, so when I found them in this colour and my size, I had to go for it. They are so freaking comfortable and they smell like bubblegum, haha :D
I love them so much, I wish I could get a pair too in gold, lol ;)

The other thing is this dress from Metamorphose:

I remember seeing this print back when I was starting out in Lolita and I just loved the cats on it! Ever since I've been keeping my eye out for the right colour and version. I found this on mbok for just about 4000JPY. I think it's really cute and it has a really nice length, although not as much width in the skirt as I would have liked, but oh well :)
